Public Policy Involvement
i
nvolvement in public policy is an outgrowth of the EDC’s organizational structure as well as a result of its services to the business and general communities. For instance, the EDC’s Board of Members includes the administrators from all of our governmental partners and our local services and projects are geared towards fostering community progress.
To focus more exclusively on public policy issues, the EDC helped create the Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles in 2001 to act as a catalyst for change and economic growth in the local area and
St. Louis region. As an not-for-profit, civic group, PfP members are comprised of important business and community leaders dedicated to monitoring and impacting primary indicator areas of economy, education, environment, infrastructure, and health.
Some of PfP’s successful annual initiatives include involvement with high school robotics teams and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), the Midwest China Hub Commission, the HOME St. Charles effort for first-time home buyers, a Green Code model ordinance, expanding healthcare for the impoverished with Crider Health Center, and sponsoring health and wellness activities.
