Established in 1827, Lindenwood University is an independent, public-serving liberal arts university that has an historic relationship with the Presbyterian Church and is situated on a wooded, 500-acre campus in St. Charles. This dynamic four-year institution offers more than 120 undergraduate and graduate programs for nearly 15,000 students annually from the U.S. and abroad.

 

For more than 20 years, the local area has also been benefiting from quality and affordable education provided by St. Charles Community College from its 235-acre campus in Cottleville. SCC offers more than 70 degrees and certificate programs in the arts, business, sciences, health and career technical fields.

 

Other local options for higher education include the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) classes at
St. Charles Community College, Webster University’s satellite campus in WingHaven, Maryville University’s satellite campus in Lake Saint Louis, and the Midwest University, a theological seminary in Wentzville.

 

For those interested in the trades or a technical field, the area is also home to the Lewis and Clark Career Center, an award-winning vocational school operated by the St. Charles School District. Other options of this type include Vatterott College, Sanford Brown College, and Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.

 

St. Charles County boasts five outstanding public school districts. All are fully accredited and committed to a safe, high-quality learning environment. Districts include Francis Howell, Fort Zumwalt, Orchard Farm,
St. Charles and Wentzville.

 

There are a wide range of private and faith-based schools in the community with the largest systems offered by the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. The Archdiocese offers 16 Catholic schools and two college preparatory high schools in St. Charles County and the LCMS sponsors six schools with kindergarten through eighth along with a Lutheran High School.

 

Living Word Christian School has an elementary school, middle school, and Christian High School. Other
faith-based schools in the community include Barat Academy, the area’s first independent Catholic High School, First Baptist Christian Academy, Westgate Christian Academy and Willott Road Christian Academy.

 

St. Andrews Academy is a traditional, private school with kindergarten through sixth grade.

 

One of the Top 10 American Library Districts is the St. Charles City-County Library District. Nearly 2 million residents annually visit their 12 branch locations and over 7 million items are circulated each year. Providing books, CDs, DVDs, free research tools, history and more are all part of why the district is known as “Your Answer Place!”
