In St. Charles County, our long-standing commitment to infrastructure has laid the groundwork for one of the fastest-growing economies in Missouri. Thanks to decades of proactive investment in road maintenance and transportation improvements, we’ve not only kept pace with growth—we’ve helped drive it.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of St. Charles County’s ½-cent transportation sales tax—a visionary investment first approved by voters in 1985 and reauthorized four times since. Thanks to the leadership of the St. Charles County Road Board, this dedicated funding has generated over $1 billion since its inception to support critical road improvements that enhance safety, ease congestion, and keep our communities moving.
When roads are safe, efficient, and well-maintained, it opens the door for new businesses, strengthens existing industries, and creates thousands of local jobs. Our infrastructure isn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it’s a catalyst for economic opportunity, community development, and long-term success.
At this year’s St. Charles County Economic Development Awards Luncheon, the EDC will proudly recognize a transformative initiative that has fueled that progress for four decades—helping turn mobility into momentum and paving the way for continued prosperity.
