Published Tuesday, October 28, 2025

For nearly 15 years, the MO’ Cowbell Marathon hosted by the EDC has been more than just a race — it’s been a powerful economic driver and a celebration of community in St. Charles County. Each fall, the event welcomes thousands of runners, families, and fans to our region, turning the streets of historic St. Charles into a vibrant showcase of local pride, hospitality, and endurance.

This year’s event was no exception. The 2025 event drew more than 5,800 runners and an estimated 20,000 spectators — a record-setting turnout that filled local hotels, restaurants, and shops throughout race weekend.

A Boost Beyond the Finish Line

About 18% of race participants traveled from outside the region, generating an estimated $0.5–$1.1 million in direct visitor spending on lodging, dining, retail, and entertainment. When factoring in indirect and induced effects, the total regional economic impact of this year’s event is between $870,000 and $1.95 million. View Data

Those dollars don’t just make for a great race weekend — they support local jobs, boost sales and lodging tax revenues, and enhance St. Charles County’s reputation as a premier destination for fitness, tourism, and family-friendly fun.

As the event continues to grow, it remains one of the region’s most visible examples of how community events can fuel local economies while inspiring thousands to lace up and celebrate what makes St. Charles County strong.
