BayoTech is building 50 "Hydrogen Hubs" across the US and UK, and the first one will be in St. Charles County on the campus of Ranken Technical College in Wentzville. Hydrogen Hubs are small, localized production plants designed to produce hydrogen faster and cheaper than larger-scale facilities. Rather than making large quantities of hydrogen at one production facility and transporting it via expensive pipelines, BayoTech's localized production model will produce smaller amounts via its hub network, reducing transportation costs for its customers.
The New Mexico-based clean energy startup expects to produce 350 tons of hydrogen for local users each year at the Wentzville location. BayoTech expects the Wentzville hub to be operational by Q3 of 2023.
