On October 5, thousands of cowbell-ringing spectators will line the streets of historic St. Charles City to cheer on participants of the 14th annual MO' Cowbell Run. Hosted by the EDC of St. Charles County, MO’ Cowbell offers four signature races—5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon—attracting everyone from casual walkers to serious athletes. And for the first time, every race has sold out completely.
Over 5,700 runners from 47 states and India are expected to participate in this year's event, surpassing the record of 5,407 participants set last year.
“For nearly 15 years, this event has been a powerful economic driver for St. Charles County, welcoming tens of thousands of runners and spectators to our community each year,” said EDC President & CEO Scott J. Drachnik. “Its continued growth is a clear testament to the outstanding experience that runners and visitors from across the country and around the world enjoy here.”
MO’ Cowbell’s course, known as one of the fastest and flattest in the Midwest, has been named Terrain Magazine’s Best Road Running Event (13.1+ miles) and in 2024, was named Missouri’s top half marathon by Half Marathon Guide. Its flat course makes it a popular choice for runners seeking a Boston Marathon qualifying time.
This year, the event will welcome more than 25 athletes with disabilities from the Achilles Foundation, who will each compete with the support of a guide.
In 2024, Daniel Chaplin became the first person with Down syndrome to complete a half marathon in all 50 states, with MO' Cowbell being his final stop.
“Race day is pure magic,” said Race Director Amanda Schaub. “Seeing runners of all ages and abilities cross the finish line, achieve their goals, and feel the support of our incredible community—it’s truly what makes MO’ Cowbell so special.”
While races have sold out, you can still join the excitement! Cheer on the runners and soak up the race-day energy—visit mocowbellmarathon.com for start times and details.
