2020 MO’ Cowbell Marathon, Scheduled for October 4,  Going Virtual

Organizers introduce The Chuck Challenge, a one-of-a-kind, virtual experience featuring milestones, medals and access to new running networks.

CHARLES, MO — July 2, 2020 — The 2020 MO’ Cowbell Marathon set to take place on October 4, is going fully virtual. Due to coronavirus-related health and safety concerns for runners, spectators, volunteers and staff, the race managers are instead offering something unique to celebrate the “lost year,” The Chuck Challenge.

Runners who have been training for the MO’ Cowbell Marathon, Half Marathon, Relay and 5K are encouraged by organizers to consider The Chuck Challenge <link to mocowbellrun.com>, which offers a unique set of experiences, milestones, medals and access to new running networks. The challenge allows runners to complete up to all four distances, including the newly added 10K. Runners who are currently signed up right now can transfer to The Chuck Challenge, defer to 2021 or receive a full refund.

“We took inspiration from our running community in constructing The Chuck Challenge,” says Race Director Amanda Schaub “Our MO’ Cowbell runners have never allowed for adversity to hinder them from reaching their goals. This challenge is an extension of that spirit. This year, since we are collectively facing so much as a community, we feel this virtual challenge is that kind of rarified experience that can create something memorable and positive.”

This year’s marathon was set to be the 10th running of the event, which began in 2010 and has grown to become the largest race in St. Charles, Missouri with over 5,000 finishers in 2019. The 10-year celebration is on hold until 2021, when the community can join in celebrating in the race’s glory.

“This race was created to offer a big city marathon experience with a hometown feel and showcase some of the best of St. Charles County,” says EDC President & CEO Scott J. Drachnik…..“And this year, the big city races, along with so many important community gatherings, are canceled. The Chuck Challenge creates the camaraderie and unity we have been missing in 2020. And we can remain committed to championing the uniqueness of St. Charles County – even virtually.”

Runners can enter The Chuck Challenge, alter their current race entries and get questions answered at www.mocowbellrun.com.

About MO’ Cowbell

MO’ Cowbell is a community race, put on by the community, for the community.

The race is organized by  the Economic Development Center (EDC) of St. Charles County, , a community non-profit organization helping promote healthy lifestyles and quality of life issues  in St. Charles County. Every year it is our goal to put on a first-class community race  perfect for kids, walkers, Boston qualifiers and everyone in between.

But we STRONGLY believe a little touch of humor doesn’t hurt. If our mascot Chuck the Cow, with abs and tennis shoes isn’t an indication, check out an inspiration of where or race name came from, the SNL skit More Cowbell.

Thanks for being part of MO’ Cowbell community!
