Quality of Place

Quality of Place

A growing community’s “Quality of Place” helps to attract and retain a strong and healthy workforce along with successful companies, entrepreneurs, families, tourists and people of all ages.

In short, it is everything that makes a community a great place to live, work and play.

Every community touts its parks and recreation, business opportunities, safe communities, and top-notch schools and hospitals.

The communities of St. Charles County are continuously recognized on a national basis with awards and accolades every year for our area’s livability, affordability, health and wellness and booming economy. Outside experts who have honored the Quality of Place offered in St. Charles County include the likes of Money Magazine, Inc., Forbes, Sperling’s Best Places and others.

To enhance the local Quality of Place and help promote the community, the EDC created MO’ Cowbell, the region’s fastest, flattest race held every October since 2011.

MO’ Cowbell is a Boston Marathon-qualifying race that attracts approximately 5,000 runners from all over the world each year for either the MO’ Cowbell Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K and the Post-Race Party in Runners Village in Historic St. Charles.

St. Charles County is also home to America’s first designated wine district in the communities of Augusta and Defiance along South Highway 94. With award-winning vineyards overlooking beautiful hills, Missouri Wine Country is renowned for its historic towns, charming Bed & Breakfasts, antique shops, and access to the ever-popular Missouri Katy Trail.

Wineries. Network of local and state outdoor trails. Historic riverfront. Countless open-air festivals. Active arts scene and nightlife. The Quality of Place available in St. Charles County is one of the best in the American Heartland!
